Today, Jim Oberweis candidate for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 19th District, announced support for expanding the Cape Coral VA Clinic into a full-service VA hospital.
“Our veterans deserve better than 3-hour drives for hospital care,” said Oberweis Expanding the Cape Coral VA Clinic is the fastest, most cost-effective way to deliver inpatient and emergency services to Lee County veterans. It saves taxpayers money, avoids years of red tape, and gets results faster.”
The expansion is estimated to cost $800 million to $1.2 billion and could be completed in 7–10 years—compared to $1.8 billion to $2.5+ billion and 10–15+ years for a new hospital.
[Oberweis pledged to work with the VA and Florida’s congressional delegation to prioritize this project in the next federal budget cycle.
