Oberweis Calls for GOP to Sign Pledge of Unity for General Election
Sends Pledge to All Candidates Asking Them to Sign for the Good of the Party
“As Republicans enjoy reuniting with our families during the Christmas season, it is also important that we unite as a Party this campaign season,” declared GOP Congressional candidate Jim Oberweis.
“Our Congressional candidates can do that by signing a pledge to support our Party’s nominees, whoever the victor,” said Oberweis.
“Therefore, I have drafted a pledge for the Southwest Florida Republican candidates for Congress to commit to supporting and campaigning for our Party’s ultimate nominee,” said Oberweis, continuing, “And I am honored to be the first to affix my signature to the pledge.”
“Republicans have long bemoaned how Democrats always unify behind their candidates, even when their candidates are charged with crimes, are mentally incapacitated, or otherwise reveal themselves to be conspicuously ill-suited to hold a position of public trust. Yet, sadly, those Democrats often win by showing the tenacity of a Pit Bull attached to your leg. Of course, while you may admire the dog’s commitment, you know severe pain is certain to follow…much like the painful policy outcomes that follow Democrat election victories.”
“Therefore, I am calling on this year’s Republican Congressional candidates to join with me in signing a pledge to unify behind our GOP nominee this 2026 election cycle,” Oberweis announced.
“I am going to be the first to sign this pledge, and I invite all GOP candidates to join in a commitment to invest their time, their energy, and their resources between August and November to support our nominee.”
“I will be mailing a copy of this pledge to all the candidates this week,”
The pledge states:
“I, ____________, as a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in Southwest Florida, do hereby pledge to commit my full and unconditional support to our Grand Old Party’s nominee in the 2026 general election. I will demonstrate my support by my written and spoken word, by my appearances at campaign events, and by my commitment of the time, energy, and resources necessary to ensure a Republican victory in November.
