JIM OBERWEIS PLEDGES TO INTRODUCE “JUSTICE FOR TAXPAYERS ACT” IN CONGRESS TO HALT TAXPAYER FUNDING FOR ALL NON-PROFIT GROUPS

To support President Trump’s spending cuts and to restore justice to American taxpayers, SWFL
Republican Congressional candidate Jim Oberweis today declared: “If elected, I will introduce
legislation to stop the funding of all non-profit organizations by the federal government.”
Said Oberweis: “For decades, many, many billions of American taxpayer dollars have been
spent by the federal government subsidizing radical left-wing organizations actively working
against democracy, against an honest electoral process, and against our very Constitutional
system of government. It needs to end now.”
“But regardless of the ideology of these non-profits, it should not be the business of the federal
government to pick winners and losers among these supposedly ‘charitable’ and tax-exempt
groups,” said Oberweis. “If those organizations cannot raise adequate resources through the
strength of their own private fund-raising endeavors, why should taxpayers subsidize their
failure? Our free-market, free-enterprise system works if our government will just allow it to
work. ‘Free’ means the right to succeed or fail without the federal government placing its hand
on the scale for self-serving ideological reasons. While some may howl that worthwhile
charitable organizations will suffer as a result, it does not detract from the principle that public,
taxpayer funds should not be spent propping-up private organizations.”
While such abuses are only now coming to light because of the efforts of the Trump
Administration, DOGE, and private investigations into the coordinated efforts of the anti-ICE
riots…the reality is, this has been going on for decades. The federal government has been
funding the agenda of the radical left through non-profits for a very long time.
“In collusion with leftist organizations, Democrats found a back-door way to secretly weaponize
taxpayer’s money against them,” pointed-out Oberweis. “Do the majority of taxpaying
Americans support tanti-ICE riots? The last election results emphatically say ‘no!’ Did the
America people support the left-wing rampage of 2020’s rioting, which destroyed billions in
private property, ruined small business, and cost innocent lives? Clearly, not. Yet, you and I
were paying for those riots through our tax dollars.”
“Why would we continue subsidizing the radical agenda of the many non-profits at war with the
traditional values of most Americans?” asked Oberweis. “In too many cases, these
organizations were formed by communist operatives and even foreign enemies of the United
States. Why would we continue subsidizing our own demise?”
Oberweis has pointed out this is especially true with the 501c4 non-profits favored by
Democrats and left-wing causes, because they operate as “dark money” enterprises not
required to report to the IRS or FEC their donor lists or the details of their expenditures in
support of left-wing causes and candidates.
“Furthermore, I call for the DOJ to use the RICO statutes to investigate what I believe is the
criminal coordination by some of these non-profit operations to organize riots and other illegal
activities,” said former-Senator Oberweis.
“By my proposed legislation, any non-profit organization convicted of hiding behind the First
Amendment to foment riots and engage in activities undermining the Constitution shall be
stripped of their tax-exempt status,” declared Oberweis. “My legislation will allow taxpayers to
file class-action lawsuits against these corrupt organizations to attempt to claw-back the billions
of our money these groups misspent as criminal racketeers.”
“Organizations like the ACLU –founded in Chicago by two members of the Communist
Party—and the disreputable Southern Poverty Law Center have been using your tax dollars
against you for years. Enough is enough,” said Oberweis. “I will ensure that if elected,
defunding these grifters will be a top priority of my efforts in Congress. Wei will secure both a
moral victory and a financial victory for the people of America and Southwest Florida.”
“Although too many of these nobly-named, charitable-sounding non-profits conceal extreme
left-wing agendas, it doesn’t matter to me whether non-profits are conservative or liberal,
Democrat or Republican, good or bad….it is my belief that NO non-profit organization should
ever be funded by the federal government, period. The American people can support what
causes hey wish through private donating,” concluded Oberweis. “Government needs to get
off-our-backs and out-of-our-pockets!”
