BONITA SPRINGS, FL — Jim Oberweis, Republican candidate for Congress in Florida’s 19th Congressional District, today welcomed the other ten Republican candidates into the race following the close of candidate qualifying.
“Welcome to the race,” Oberweis said. “A competitive Republican primary is good for voters, good for our party, and good for Southwest Florida. I am glad so many people recognize how important this seat is.”
Oberweis said the size of the field makes one thing clear: Republicans across Florida understand that the 19th Congressional District will play an important role in keeping Southwest Florida conservative and protecting President Trump’s America First agenda in Congress.
“This campaign has never been about who can make the most noise,” Oberweis said. “It is about who has the experience, the conservative record, and the ability to deliver for the people of Lee and Collier counties. Voters deserve strong leadership. Such leadership is produced by having a serious campaign focused on important issues like border security, cutting wasteful spending, defending our veterans, getting government off-our-backs-and-out-of-our-pockets, and standing up for the common sense values that make Southwest Florida unique.”
Oberweis, a successful entrepreneur and former state senator, has been campaigning across the district for well over a year, meeting voters, visiting first responders, speaking with local Republican activists, and building a grassroots organization focused on winning the August 18 Republican primary.
